Asked Questions

What is blue light therapy?

Blue light therapy is the use of natural blue light from the visible light spectrum for a medical or therapeutic benefit. It has been used to treat acne for almost 40 years. LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology has revolutionised the technology previously used, by leading dermatologists, to make it portable and wearable. LUSTRE ClearSkin is the highly advanced 3rd Generation device for delivering blue-light therapy.

Will LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology cause any UV damage to my skin?

No, LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology delivers therapeutic safe natural blue light at a wavelength of 415 nm. This is not in the UV spectrum of the natural light wavelength. In clinical trials of blue light at 415 nm, there have been no reported incidences of UV skin damage.

LUSTRE has left a darker mark on my skin?

A rare pigment darkening can occur immediately after the treatment.  It is caused by visible wavelengths i.e. blue light, is temporary and completely harmless. It is commonly seen in darker skin types and usually fades in 48 hours. It is thought to be due to reversible oxidation of existing melanin and is not new melanin (which would last much longer). The bacteria continue to be killed, and the temporary discolouration is nothing to be concerned about.

How do I prepare my skin before treatment?

Before using LUSTRE ClearSkin ensure skin is clean and dry and that all make-up is removed.

Wash skin with normal cleanser or with a mild soap and warm water. Ensure skin is dry after cleansing and before using the LUSTRE ClearSkin.

If other topical treatments for acne are being used these should be applied following the LUSTRE ClearSkin treatment session.

Are there any side effects I should be concerned about?

LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology is a natural therapy and there are no known side effects. Regular use has been clinically proven to destroy P. acnes bacteria, the bacteria which cause spots.

Can I use my other acne medications with LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology?

Please consult your healthcare provider before using LUSTRE if you have been prescribed any medication for Acne. You can contact our partner GP, Dr Sam Robson at Temple Clinic for advice using this form.

Asked Questions

Where can I buy LUSTRE ClearSkin technology?

LUSTRE ClearSkin Solo is available to buy on this website, click here to shop. It’s also available via Amazon.

How can the stickiness of the adhesive LUSTRESTRIPS be reduced?

There is one recommended method for reducing the adhesion of the strips.

A small amount of moisturising cream such as E45 should be applied directly to the skin immediately before application of the adhesive strips. The exact amount of cream required is dependent upon the need to reduce the adhesion. In ALL cases the white cream should NOT be visible on the skin when the strip is applied to the skin. If cream is visible then the light will not be able to reach the skin and perform an effective treatment.

Can LUSTRE be used on other parts of the body, i.e the back and chest?

Yes – you can use LUSTRE Solo on any part of the body affected by acne.

Does my LUSTRE ClearSkin device have a guarantee?

Yes, the LUSTRE ClearSkin Technology device is guaranteed to be free from defects for 12 months from the time of purchase.

I have sensitive skin, can I use LUSTRE ClearSkin?

Yes, you can.
However, it’s important to note that a small number of people have a skin type that is more sensitive to the normal level of adhesion of the LUSTRESTRIPS.

The best way to check whether your skin is more sensitive is to carry out a short test before your first treatment the following way:

Attach a LUSTRESTRIP to a LUSTRE ClearSkin device and place it on your inner forearm, just below the elbow.
The device should then be switched on and left in place for at least 20 minutes before being removed carefully by lifting from one edge.
If there is any discomfort, then we recommend applying a very small amount of moisturising cream to the skin before attaching a LUSTRESTRIP next time.

How do I clean my LUSTRE ClearSkin device?

After each treatment session the LUSTRE adhesive strip should be removed and discarded. The LUSTRE therapy head should be cleaned using a moist cloth or cleansing wipe, a moist alcohol swab may also be used. Liquid of any description should not be allowed to enter the Lustre therapy heads or LUSTRE controller at any time. Do not use or attach your LUSTRE ClearSkin device to the main power supply if it has ever been exposed to liquid at any time as it is electrical equipment.
